The Spirit has landed.
Right on schedule
What an experience - we landed on schedule and were greeted by a parade of flashing lights escorting Spirit of TWA to Terminal 5, JetBlue Gate 9. And guess what - we are the FIRST airplane to park at JetBlues new terminal. And what a new terminal - something into the future. The gala JetBlue is putting on tomorrow is going to something out of this world. This will be one of the finest terminals in this country. Absoulety beautiful and they have done everything right. Entirely high tech, you can even order food from your gate and have it delivered. Gourmet, classy and exciting. It is the real WOW factor.
JetBlue gave us the red carpet treatment - well it took 7 men about an hour to lay out the red carpet - no wrinkles allowed. Ellie has never had such a grand welcome and well deserved. What a history this wonderful airplane has had.
Once parked at the gate, Ruth opened the door and said with her arms waving; "we're here". A gatherng of JetBlue and former TWA employees were their to say welcome. I think we all the moment of realization at what this was all about. A legacy of the past here to greet an icon of the future.
Captain Curt is the best - he managed to keep a steady course all the way across America. One of the finest Captains I have ever had the pleasure to fly with. Captain Curt got us here on schedule, in style and safe.
Ruth is like traveling with a real celebrity. Everywhere we land people are in awe of the legacy she represents. She's the real deal, and its a pleasure to be part of this voyage. She has the ability to make everyone feel special and she never hesitates to share the history of TWA.
Thank you JetBlue for including TWA, one of the grandest airlines in aviation history and including us as part of your grand opening.
TWA led the way, now we pass the torch to JetBlue, an airline that seems a cut above all the others, they are doing everything right. Congratulations!
